County Highway Summer Reading Tour 2025

Many of you know that at Native Son, we cherish the written word: printing our own menus weekly, stocking local newspapers and regional mags, and shunning QR codes to keep community and authenticity first.
.
The only national publication we keep on our bar is County Highway, “America’s Only Newspaper” championed by one of our personal heroes and literary icon Walter Kirn—whose unique voice brilliantly interprets popular culture— and shares our passion for authentic, human-driven storytelling in an AI-driven world.
.
We’re thrilled to host them as a part of their 2025 America Summer Reading Tour! Please help us to celebrate these writers and the power of the human pen!
.
Join us with Meaghan Garvey and Valen Lambert, two brilliant voices from County Highway, for a reading and Q&A this Friday at 2pm at Native Son!

Meaghan, a Midwest writer and illustrator, weaves evocative tales of music and Americana for Pitchfork and her Substack, Scary Cool Sad Goodbye.

Valen, a Pacific Northwest writer and County Highway Assistant Editor, captures the shifting landscapes of rural America with poignant prose.
